The WeObserve project will launch its first three Communities of Practice!

On 6 June 2018, the H2020 WeObserve project, coordinated by IIASA, will launch its first three Communities of Practice (CoPs) at the University of Geneva, during three dedicated sessions at the Citizen Science Workshop Day of the 2nd International ECSA Conference.

The WeObserve CoPs will serve as the vehicle for sharing information on key thematic topics related to Citizen Observatories (COs), thereby consolidating knowledge about COs to move citizen science into the mainstream of environmental management and decision making. The event is an opportunity for participants to engage with a wide range of stakeholders in the field of citizen science and COs.

The partners behind the LandSense COs are invited to share and leverage their ideas, knowledge, and experiences with others in the field, and work towards concrete solutions in citizen science.

Much of the emerging experience with COs is currently dispersed across various stakeholders. To consolidate this knowledge and expertise, the WeObserve project is launching and coordinating the following three dedicated Communities of Practice (CoPs):

  • CoP 1: Co-design and citizen engagement
  • CoP 2: Impact and value of COs for governance
  • CoP 3: Interoperability and standards for citizen observatories

Registration for the CoPs launch workshop can be found here, and more information about the event can be found at the WeObserve website.
